New opportunity…?
So, looking around at windows of opportunity at our biannual career fair in the Fine Arts college, little seemed to catch my fancy. I got a free tote bag to carry my miniscule amount of information the SXSW booth had to offer. HRC seemed a bit promising, though docent work would be the only thing I could ever hope to get. Oh, and I did a dismal job of masking my disappointment in the treatment the Arthouse at the Jones Center gave me this past semester… But I still gave little Natalie my resume, but I could see the disgust in her character (she couldn’t believe I pulled that shit! Well don’t treat me like a dog when I try to email my resume to you, Natalie). But there always seem to be new doors that open. Across the room, I stumbled upon a company called CultureMap… I’d never heard of it before, but the name left me intrigued; “Anthro major… culture..what??” ..its almost like I’ve gotten mental Tourette’s. Anyway, they’re looking for writers/interns to work on stories about events (shows, gallery openings, yada yada), and I was like “YES!! I know the ins and outs of this city!!”. I have considered doing some work in the Chronicle or something to provide updates about the goings on in the ATX, but this works too!
Oooo so hopeful! I feel like this would be a wonderful opportunity :)
